Windows Explorer allows you to organize files and folders however you want, but it doesn't provide anything to help you manage your disk volumes. Drive Manager provides you with a huge amount of information for individual partitions, removable drives and so on, but it also provides a series of interesting features. You can hide entire partitions, check and benchmark disks and more.

Drive Manager is free and it doesn't need to be installed. You just need to download a small executable and run it. This gives you the possibility of taking the application with you and using it on any Windows powered computer.

Your local partitions, optical and removable drives are listed on the application's interface, along with numerous details. You may click different check boxes, in the lower area of the window, to filter your drives. Besides selecting a drive and opening it on a standard explorer window by clicking a button, you can perform more interesting tasks. For example, you may create substitute drive letters for any folder on your hard drive. You just need to type in a drive letter and select a folder, on a separate window, and your folder will appear as a new partition, in Windows Explorer.

Drive Manager's core functions are located on a toolbar. They will bring up separate windows, on which you can view numerous details about individual drives, benchmark their speed or verify them. Additional options can be found in the program's top menus and in a context menu, after right clicking a drive. You can view a disk's SMART information, map network drives, view an optical device's capabilities and much more.

Pros

The software can display a vast range of information about disk volumes, removable drives or optical devices. It allows you to hide individual drives, create substitute drive letters and more. The interface is not complicated and you can get used to its options in a few minutes.

Cons

The program may refresh the listed drives more often that you would like. Thanks to its smart functions, Drive Manager will change the way you manage your disk volumes.
